Aloomba State School is a small school situated in the centre of the beautiful Mulgrave valley, 30 kilometres south of Cairns and 6 kilometres south of Gordonvale. The school caters for students from prep to year 7 and is surrounded by a close-knit community where the school is the focal point. Many school events are organised throughout the year which are well attended and supported by our local community.

Babinda P-12 State School is a single campus P-12 school situated in the township of Babinda, approximately 60 km south of Cairns. It is located within the Cairns Coastal District and is the largest member of the cluster of schools which includes McDonnell Creek, Bellenden Ker, Miriwinni and Bartle Frere.

High achievers - climbing to the top

Bartle Frere State School was officially opened in 1922 and sits at the base of Mt Bartle Frere - Queensland’s highest mountain of 1622 metres. Our school motto 'High Achievers - Climbing to the Top', reflects the mountain drop that the school sits against. It is the most southern school of the Greater City of Cairns and caters for Prep to Year 7 students in a one teacher school.

Bellenden Ker State School is situated 12 kilometres north of Babinda and around 35 kilometres south of Cairns on the Bruce Highway.

Bentley Park College is a Prep to Year 12 state college located in the southern corridor of Cairns. The college is comprised of two sectors - Prep to Year 6; and Year 7 to 12 on the one campus and includes a well-resourced Special Education Program for Prep to Year 12 students.

Croydon State School is a small school situated in the Gulf of Carpentaria, 150 km west of Georgetown and 150 km east of Normanton.   Croydon has a rich history, once being a gold mining town. The beautiful buildings along the main street are reminders of this bygone era.

Live for the future

The Daradgee Environmental Education Centre is located 11km north of Innisfail and 84km south of Cairns in an agricultural landscape reliant on the production of sugar cane, bananas (and other fruit), beef cattle, fishing and tourism. The Centre's grounds are 1.4 ha and adjoin 2.7 ha of council reserve made up of pathed rainforest walks, a large tree-lined oval bordering the North Johnstone River.

We are a small, friendly, rural school situated on the edge of the Atherton Tablelands in sub-tropical Far North Queensland. Our school caters for students from five to fifteen years of age. Dimbulah State School provides a wide variety of learning experiences for students through curriculum programs in all key learning areas.

El Arish State School is situated in the small township of El Arish, commonly known as Mission Beach Hinterland. Set amongst our picturesque setting is a dynamic primary school offering worthwhile and exciting individualised programs for the El Arish community.

Small and proud

Feluga State School is a tiny two-teacher school that nestles in the green canefields of the Tully valley. We are about 8 kilometres north of the town of Tully.

With a dedicated staff of two teachers, two teacher aides, an administrative assistant, a cleaner and a part-time groundsperson at the school, we are currently overseeing 33 students from Prep to Year 7.

We care

Flying Fish Point State School is a co-educational State School catering for children from Prep to Year 7. The school services the local Flying Fish Point community which is located approximately 8 kms from the township of Innisfail.

The school currently has an enrolment of 84 students and classes are multi-aged. Class configurations at the school vary from year to year according the numbers in any given cohort. Flying Fish Point State School is one of seven schools in the area. Approximately 20% of our students travel from Innisfail to attend classes.

Our focus is to provide students with the best educational outcomes possible. This can be achieved through determination, positive attitude, commitment to learning, building positive relationships with others and trying your best and never giving up.

Forsayth State School is a multi-age Prep to Year 7 school with all students learning in the one classroom. Students are well supported by a passionate and dedicated team of staff, including a Teaching Principal, Itinerant Teacher, full-time Teachers' Aide and Administration Officer.

Success crowns effort

Freshwater State School opened in 1923 and now has around 700 eager learners from Prep to Year 7 working in 27 air-conditioned teaching classrooms.

Georgetown State School is a small rural school located within the Gulf Savannah region of Far North Queensland. Everyone involved within Georgetown State School prides themselves on being hard working and caring people who achieve goals through tolerance.

Dare to do well

Goondi State School is a prep to year 7 primary school situated in Innisfail in the heart of the beautiful Cassowary Coast. It caters for some 420 students and has a wonderful blend of town and country children. Our students are drawn from residential suburbs, small acreage properties and extensive banana and cane farms.

Gordonvale State High School is a rural secondary school located south of Cairns in Far North Queensland. We provide coeducational secondary education to the youth of Gordonvale and Aloomba communities.

Herberton State School P-10 has been caring for our students for over 130 years. The school was opened in 1881 and a it was one of the original six state schools to have a secondary department added in 1912. It is the only remaining high-top school of the initial six. Our school is situated in a small country town on the Atherton Tablelands.

Innisfail State School has a long history and tradition in the Innisfail area. The school was first opened on July 1, 1887 as Geraldton State School in King George Park. The school was renamed Innisfail State School in 1913.

Lockhart State School is situated in the community of Lockhart River on the Eastern Coast of Cape York Peninsula. The population is approximately 600 people. The community is comprised of five coastal and inland diverse language groups. Lockhart students are fluent speakers of Lockhart Language which is the traditional language, English is a second language.

Our school is a coeducational one and offers classes from prep to year 7. It’s located in the tropical heartland on the Cassowary Coast and set amongst cane fields, services the beach areas of Tully and Hull Heads. Mirriwinni State School is a primary school catering for students from prep to year 7. It is nestled in the lush, tropical valley of Mount Bartle Frere, Queensland’s highest mountain.

At Murray River Upper State School we pride ourselves on working together to nurture children who believe in themselves and value learning.

We are a small rural school of 63 students. Murray Upper is situated 15 minutes drive south of Tully in Far North Queensland. Turn right off the Bruce Highway travelling south from Tully and drive towards Murray Falls. Murray Upper is half way between the highway and the falls. It consists of a store and the school. The students come from the surrounding cane, pineapple, banana, paw paw and cattle farms and the Jumbun community.

Mutchilba State School is a vibrant and active learning environment for both students and staff, with parents actively contributing to the school life, and their children’s education.

Being a small school Mutchilba State School has adopted a multi-age philosophy in the structure of the classrooms. There are many advantages of running a multi-age classroom. Multi-age promotes and supports the understanding that different age groups can be achieving at the same or similar level, while maintaining healthy social and emotional well-being and development. Students are also able to be involved a range of activities at different levels working at their own capacity in a caring and supportive environment. Students here are able to be exposed to greater personal challenges and accept more responsibility.

The Northern Peninsula Area College is a P-12 College with three campuses. Injinoo and Bamaga Primary Campuses have pre-prep to year seven grades while the years eight to twelve secondary needs are met by the Senior Campus.

Parramatta State School was established in 1927 near the centre of Cairns in a suburb called Parramatta Park. Parramatta State School focuses on literacy and numeracy, but offers a broad curriculum that integrates the use of learning technologies. Every classroom is equipped with a ceiling/wall digital projector and teachers and students have access to a modern library, music and sports facilities.

Pormpuraaw State School was established in 1975, on the outskirts of Pormpuraaw on the road to Cairns.  Cairns is eight hours away by four wheel drive vehicle.  The school has approximatley 105 students enrolled.

Although 99% of the children are of Aboriginal descent, we are trying to maintain a multicultural flavour, learning about and appreciating the diversity of all peoples in our midst.  We particularly endorse Pormpuraaw Council's goals to have children immersed in both cultures, believing this provides self-confidence and self-esteem.

Rossville State School is located approximately 40 kms south of Cooktown, tucked away in the rainforest. The school services the localities of Rossville, Helenvale and Mungumby and has a close relationship with other schools in the Southern Cape Cluster.

Silkwood State School is a Band 6 primary school with approximately 72 students from Prep to Year 7. Our school is located  31 kms south of Innsifail and 23 kms north of Tully. We are approximately 9 kms from the local beachside township of Kurrimine Beach where the majority of our students reside.

Tolga State School is situated six kilometres from Atherton in Far North Queensland. The school was established in 1895 and caters for 336 students from Prep - Year 7. Extra-curricular activities for example choir, musicals, choral speaking, sport and instrumental music are valued within the school community.

Learning together

White Rock State School is a Prep to Year 7 school situated in the southern corridor of Cairns. It is the only state school in the area that is located on the eastern side of the Bruce highway and caters for approximately 480 students who are drawn from the White Rock area and surrounding suburbs.

Wonga Beach School is a modern, innovative and well resourced 'small' school with an enrolment of approximately 135 students in classes from Prep to Year 7 and a commitment to excellence - in our teaching, in our students and in our programs. Our focus on improvement will see us concentrate on 3 areas in 2013 - explicit instruction and the use of warm ups to consolidate learning, the use of data to make instructional decisions, and the introduction of the Australian Curriculum. Woree State School is now thirty years old, opening in 1980.  The school is situated in attractive grounds with air-conditioned classrooms, playground equipment and shaded sitting areas. All teaching blocks are at ground level with dual classrooms.  This is conducive to teacher partnerships and student teams across and within year levels.

Yarrabah State School caters for an indigenous student population enrolled from Pre-prep to Year 10 across three separate campuses within the community of Yarrabah in Far North Queensland. A Special Education Unit supporting students across all campuses is located at the Primary campus with a specialist facility provided at the Secondary campus.
