Far North Queensland welcomes international students

For over ten years students from across the globe have come to state schools around Far North Queensland to enjoy world-class education opportunities. These students have come from China, Japan, Korea, Italy, Norway, Germany and more recently Papua New Guinea.

When studying in Cairns and around Far North Queensland (FNQ) students learn English. They also have the opportunity to study new subjects surrounded by the natural beauty of tropical rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef.

Students also come to reach their full academic potential, completing Year 12 so they have the best opportunity to attend university.

We have a team of dedicated professionals who specialise in managing the unique requirements of international students and their families. These professionals include: school counsellors, home stay and international student coordinators as well as English as a Second Language (ESL) specialists.

Groups of students and teaching professionals also come to FNQ for study tours. Here they experience a Queensland school first-hand while practicing English in a safe and supportive environment. Students often comment that being with their Australian ‘student buddy’ is the highlight of the trip.
