Play-based learning for four year olds

In Queensland, children can receive the benefits of kindergarten programs delivered by qualified early childhood teachers in kindergarten and long day care services.

It's never too early to plan your child's education - starting with kindy enrolment. Enrolling your child in a Queensland Government-approved kindergarten program will give them the best start in life and help prepare them for school.

Your four year old will take part in play-based learning, developing early literacy and numeracy concepts and communication skills which will help their reading and writing ability.

Many kindergarten program providers have waiting lists so even new mums should think about enrolling their child to secure a place.

Kindergarten approved programLook for programs with the 'kindy tick'. Programs with the kindy tick are taught by qualified early childhood teachers and run for at least 600 hours a year, such as 15 hours a week for 40 weeks.
